The Museum – a modern take on the storage shed with an imposing facade and featuring passive cooling in its design

A new addition to the tourism scene in North Queensland has been the Australian Armour and Artillery Museum – housing an impressive collection of armoured vehicles and artillery from both world wars. I was tasked by the architects to capture this modern take on the traditional storage shed. While the imposing facade and entry are clear to see, the clever use of architecture to create passive cooling is more subtle… from the vented walls and eaves to the sloping roof line. Within the expansive interior of the museum, there’s ample room to show off the exhibits to their best effect.
