Last week I had the opportunity to travel up to Cape York, to the remote indigenous community of Aurukun on the west coast. I was there to photograph some of the great work done by the administrators and teachers at Cape York Aboriginal Australian Academy’s Aurukun Campus. The programs they’ve put in place are an important step in closing the academic achievement gap between indigenous and mainstream students.
