Sitting about 8 kms off the North Queensland coast near Cardwell, Hinchinbrook Island has a diverse range of ecosystems along one of the region’s best walking tracks – the Thorsborne Trail. Four spare days and great weather conspired for me to able to do a solo trek along the 32 km trail. I loaded up the backpack with about 30 kilograms of tent, food and camera gear and headed off, starting from the north near Cardwell and finished up in the south near Lucinda. Some days I didn’t see anyone else on the trail and no mobile reception: a good place to get away from everything…
